The record is public. Making it usable is the work.

New York’s civil filings are public the moment they are docketed. That has been true for years, and it is still true that almost nobody can do anything useful with them on the day they appear.

The obstacles are dull and real. The filings arrive as scanned PDFs with inconsistent layouts. A defendant’s name in a caption is not an address you can post a letter to. Opposing counsel is a name, not a registration status. And the plaintiff who just filed against your prospective client might be running their thirtieth identical complaint this month, or their first - the docket will not tell you which without work.

Our stance.

That work is unglamorous and it does not scale by cleverness. It scales by somebody doing it every court day and building the record properly - resolving entities, checking the attorney roll, standardising addresses, and being honest about which fields are confirmed and which are not. MMM Partners is that: a working record of what was filed, who was named, where they can actually be reached, and who is on the other side.

We are deliberate about how it is collected. The courts block automated access; we do not work around that. A person reads the docket, and the automation runs afterwards against official open data. It is slower than scraping and it is the reason the provenance holds up when somebody asks.

What we are not.

We are not a law firm and we are not a referral service. We do not give legal advice, take cases, represent clients, or contact defendants on anyone’s behalf. We do not decide who should hear from you. We supply structured information drawn from the public record; what you do with it is your judgement, under your own licence and your own professional obligations.

We also do not sell predictions. There are no scores here estimating how a case will end and no characterisations of parties. The record is the product, and it is worth more when it is exactly what the filing says and nothing more.
